Storm Actors

Apple Cider Vinegar / Netflix

Sara Fernando is the role of Sara in Netflix, Apple Cider Vinegar

Set at the birth of Instagram, Apple Cider Vinegar follows two young women who set out to cure their life-threatening illnesses through health and wellness, influencing their global online communities along the way. All of which would be incredibly inspiring if it were all true.

This is a true-ish story based on a lie, about the rise and fall of a wellness empire; the culture that built it up and the people who tore it down

Did you see?
Did your cousin know her?
Did you listen to the podcast?
Was it funny?

In a quiet community hall during a support group for ex-cult members, a brutal murder takes place.
Years later a true crime podcast delves into what caused the group to turn against each other. Witness live re-enactments of the meetings from never-before-heard transcripts, which eventually lead up to the event commonly referred to as ‘The Corner Hall Witch Trial’ – complete with Squarespace ads, of course.

But as the harrowing story begins, the victim wants to re-write her story.

About Wildefang

Wildefang productions is a Naarm/Melbourne based theatre company that looks at the absurdity and humour in the dark experiences of being human. We engage in a variety of genres but are always looking to interrogate this moment in time, and what it means to be in search of community, walking a tight rope between belonging and individualisation.

Adam Alkuheli, is in the production of RUINS | ألاطلال at Belvior Theatre.

In Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, the ancient Baalbek ruins bear witness to a turbulent history. Nearby, the Palmyra Hotel, is a time capsule of a flourishing and cosmopolitan yesteryear.

A chorus of shapeshifting characters evokes the hotel’s bygone era where music, poetry and bohemia intersect with nation changing events.  Mortals and gods wrestle with inexorable time as they plunder the past to make sense of the present.

Clockfire Theatre Company is a physical theatre company which creates original devised works. For Ruins Clockfire harnesses the magic of visual storytelling and embarks on a journey through time contemplating Lebanon as its own tragic hero.

BStreetSmart 2024

Cooper Hall is apart of the BStreetSmart 2024

bstreetsmart is the inspiring initiative of the Trauma Service at Westmead Hospital. Westmead’s Trauma Service is constantly reminded through their hands on work that young people aged between 15–30 are disproportionally represented in road trauma. As a result, they have a strong commitment to Road Safety Education.

The purpose of bstreetsmart is to reduce the fatality and injury rates of young people by promoting safe behaviour as drivers, riders and passengers.

Attendance at the bstreetsmart event grows every year which means more students and teachers are experiencing and learning about the impact of dangerous/distracted driving and the consequences for those directly and indirectly involved in a crash.

Going into its 20th year, the bstreetsmart forum is Australia’s largest educational event on road safety with over 247,000 year 10, 11 and 12 students having participated.

bstreetsmart provides students with firsthand experiences and:

  • An understanding of their responsibilities as a driver and as a responsible passenger.
  • Information and strategies to avoid serious injuries and death.
  • Information on how to reduce risk taking behaviour through greater awareness of the consequences of distracted driving, inattention, speeding, drink and drug driving and driver fatigue.

This successful initiative receives support from the NSW government and our generous partners to ensure bstreetsmart can continue to be offered to all schools, as they recognise the important role it plays in the community.

PIPER

by Frenzy Theatre Co

8 – 24 August | Theatre Works

Once upon a time in a far away land some dude with a flute ran an elaborate scam.

Well that’s the official stance of the council and media… they’re always reliable right?

Frenzy Theatre Co presents the Australian Gothic reimagining of the Pied Piper of Hamelin with an ensemble of female and non-binary performance makers, circus artists and live instrumentalists. A warped version of the much loved fable that will have you questioning the very ground you stand on and rooting for the wrong side.

PIPER is an explosion of ideas that defies theatrical definition for a post-truth media saturated world. It’s fun, it’s bold, it’s unforgettable.

‘…an unsettling and darkly funny extravaganza…’ -The Age

‘…PIPER exploded with life and had me hooked every minute. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐’ -Whats The Show
